Frequently Asked Questions

Good questions, answered

Does my child need previous experience?

No. Many of our pupils start as complete beginners.

Can lessons lead to music exams?

Yes. We can prepare pupils for graded examinations where appropriate, although exams are not compulsory.

Are there opportunities for my child to perform?

Yes. We work with schools to arrange concerts and music assemblies. These are mostly in the Summer term although can be at other times during the school year.

What if my child is unsure which instrument to choose?

We’re happy to provide guidance and recommendations to help find the right instrument.

When do lessons take place?

Lessons take place during the school day and are arranged in partnership with your child’s school. If required, and more suitable, lessons can take place at school but after school hours, in agreeance with both school and parent.

Are there opportunities to have more than 10 lessons per term?

Yes. If there are spare weeks in the term, it is possible to arrange extra lessons. If agreed with teacher and parent, holiday lessons can also be arranged. Anything in addition to the 10 lessons per term requires additional payment on top of the regular monthly or termly payments.

How can I check my child’s progress?

Each child will have a JMP Music practice book which teachers use at every lesson. Each child will receive an annual report towards the end of the summer term, and teachers are always available on email for parents.

Ready to Begin?

Give your child the opportunity to discover the joy of music and develop skills that can last a lifetime.
